Shalamcheh is one of the busiest land crossings in the south. The redesign separates freight from passenger traffic at the first opportunity, gives each its own inspection sequence and canopy, and organises the site so that queues form where there is room for them. New infrastructure for power, water and drainage runs under a reorganised plan.
